Workshop on Surveillance Camera Systems and Security Systems Held by the Electrical Engineering Department

The Career Development and Employment Unit in the Electrical Engineering Department organized a workshop titled “Surveillance Camera Systems and Security Systems” in collaboration with the Aswar Academy for Training and Development. The event targeted fourth-year students from both branches of the department—Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering—and included both morning and evening study programs. The workshop took place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

The session was conducted by Eng. Taha Zaid Ahmed, Director of Aswar Academy, and Eng. Montazer Mohammed Sadiq, with contributions from Assistant Professor Sameem Abbas Salman and Senior Chief Engineer Hussein Abdul Razzaq Hussein, the Director of the Career Development and Employment Unit in the department.

During the workshop, the speakers highlighted the vital role of surveillance camera systems in modern times, emphasizing their significance in providing high-security standards. Surveillance cameras enable complete monitoring of various locations without the need for human presence throughout the day, reducing costs and effort. The presenters also detailed the diverse features offered by surveillance cameras, such as event recording capabilities.

The workshop elaborated on the key advantages of surveillance camera systems, including:

  1. Continuous Live Recording: Audio and video recording for extended periods.
  2. Internet Connectivity: Remote access and monitoring from anywhere in the world via the internet.
  3. Real-Time Monitoring: Viewing through a monitor or computer with options for split screens or sequential display based on the number of cameras.
  4. Mobile Accessibility: Monitoring via smartphones.
  5. Display Options: Ability to view camera feeds on TVs, computer screens, or other displays.
  6. Night Surveillance: Functionality designed for nighttime monitoring.
  7. Multi-Angle Monitoring: Simultaneous observation of multiple locations from different angles.
  8. Indoor and Outdoor Use: Designed to function effectively both indoors and outdoors.
  9. Adverse Weather Resistance: Ability to operate and record under varying and extreme weather conditions.
  10. Slow-Motion Playback: Option to replay footage in slow motion for detailed review.

The session concluded with an open discussion, where participants’ questions and comments were addressed, fostering a deeper understanding of the topic.
