Advanced Encryption Techniques for Secure Database Management

The Department of Electrical Engineering conducted a PhD defense for Haider Turan Mehdi, titled “Development of Advanced Application-Level Encryption for High Security and Efficient Database Management,” on March 9, 2023.

The research introduced a novel chaotic generator-based algorithm, creating dynamic S-Boxes that adapt to input parameters, strengthening encryption against data retrieval attempts. Rigorous testing proved the algorithm’s efficiency in encrypting diverse data types, achieving global standards. The committee comprised Professors Tareq Ziyad Ismail (Chair), Hanan Abdul Ridha Akar, Hala Bahjat Abdul Wahab, Alaa Hussein Ali, Mohammed Emad Abdul Sattar, Ivan Abdul Zahra Hashem (Supervisor), and Ahmed Abdul Ghaib Nasser (Supervisor). The dissertation was approved.
