Doctoral Defense on THz Antenna Design in the Electrical Engineering Department
On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Mr. Hussein Ali Abd Al-Nabi defended his dissertation titled “Design and Characterization of THz Antenna Using Graphene-Based Artificial Magnetic Conductor” at Dijlah Hall for the Doctor of Philosophy degree.
The committee comprised:
- Prof. Dr. Jabir Salman Aziz – Chair
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thamer Rasheed Said – Member
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hadi Tarish Zabon – Member
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Odhaid Hassan Salomi – Member
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamal Mohammed Rasool – Member
- Prof. Dr. Raad Sami Fayyadh – Supervisor
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rifat Talib Hussein – Supervisor
The study utilized graphene as an artificial magnetic conductor to design THz antennas with enhanced reflection coefficients, gain, and efficiency across the 1-10 THz spectrum. Simulations were conducted using CST Studio Suite, resulting in notable advancements in antenna performance.
Mr. Abd Al-Nabi was awarded a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering with a grade of Very Good.
