Educational Trip to the National Control Center

On Thursday, March 15, 2018, the Communications Engineering Division of the Electrical Engineering Department organized a field trip to the Ministry of Electricity’s National Control Center. Supervised by Dr. Hussein Karim Khalif and other faculty members, the visit provided insights into the control and operation of Iraq’s national grid.

Students learned about the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system used for managing the grid and handling challenges such as load demand and network faults. The visit enhanced their understanding of practical and operational aspects of the electrical network.
