Improving Voltage Stability in Smart Distribution Grids
The Department of Electrical Engineering awarded a master’s degree to Hazem Sadiq Mohsen Al-Wazni for his thesis titled “Enhancement of Voltage Stability for Smart Distribution Grids Using Distributed Generators and D-FACTS.”
The research presents a novel approach using HFPSO and MO-PSO algorithms to optimize the size and location of distributed generators (DGs) and D-STATCOM devices. The work applies multi-objective functions to improve voltage stability and reduce power losses in radial distribution systems (RDS).
The discussion panel consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Inam Ibrahim Ali (Chair), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raghad Ali Majid (Member), Dr. Mazen Mustafa Mahdi (Member), and Dr. Shatha Sobhi Abdullah (Supervisor).
