Electrical Engineering Department Library:

It is a vast, comprehensive and renewable vessel for all types of knowledge, sciences and scientific research. It works to provide and facilitate access to the necessary information services for the purposes of education and distinguished scientific research through the information sources contained in the library in its various forms and types. To serve the individual and society.

Library Objectives:

1.     Continuously supplying the department library with information sources needed by faculty members and research students and following up on updating them and providing them with them continuously.

2.     Developing library systems In line with recent developments in the field of library and information services.

3.     Facilitating library services for all beneficiaries of the department’s members and enabling them to access sources and references of books in the best ways.

4.     Providing the appropriate environment within the library for study and research.

5.     Continuous development of library members.

6. Cooperation with its counterparts in other departments as well as publishing and distribution houses.

Library Staff:

The library staff for the Electrical Engineering Department consists of From the individuals listed below:

1.     Assistant Professor Salwa Adel Abdel Hamid (General Manager of Library Work).

2.     Senior Librarian. Mahdi Saadoun Mahdi (Librarian).

3.     Senior Craftsman. Mu’ayyad Adnan Ibrahim. (Assistant Librarian ).

Beneficiary Community:

The library provides its services to a group of categories of different ages, specializations and academic levels. The beneficiary community includes:

1.     Faculty : The book loan process is done for all the department’s lecturers of different specializations and academic degrees, in addition to engineers, technicians and administrators.

2.     Graduate students: The book loan process is done for all graduate students of different levels (PhD, Masters, Higher Diploma).

3. Undergraduate students: Undergraduate students can only view and read books inside the library.

4.     Head of the Electrical Engineering Department.

5. General Secretariat of the Central Library of the University of Technology.

Library Sections:

1.Books Section.

The Electrical Engineering Department Library includes a rich collection of scientific and humanities books in all fields. Some of these books are published in previous years and the other part is modern books. It is divided into two sections:

A) Foreign books:

This section includes a collection of Books in various scientific and human specializations such as:

Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Electronics, Electricity, Electrical circuits, Antenna, Communications, Calculators, Control, Building and Constructions, Mechanics, Microwave, Radar, Laser, Earth Sciences, Signal Processing, VLSI Technology, TV satellite, Dictionary, Languages.

B)     Arabic books:

This section includes another group of books in various scientific and human specializations such as: electricity, electronics, computers, mathematics, control, radio and television, physics, chemistry, communications, various engineering books, books Diverse humanity, scientific and humanitarian dictionaries.

2. Thesis Section

Includes all theses for graduate students in the Department of Electrical Engineering and for all specializations (Electricity, Electronics, Communications), starting from 1972 and some theses are in the form of discs, especially those issued after 2002. The section includes theses:

This section includes a group of solid scientific journals of various specializations and belonging to multiple universities and bodies, such as:

This section includes a set of introductory guides for some universities and scientific centers as well as scientific awards, and also includes a set of proceedings of some local scientific conferences as well as some scientific bulletins, such as:

·        Guide of Postgraduate Studies.

6.      Fourth Stage Projects Section.

This section includes a group of graduation research for fourth stage students for all specializations (electricity, electronics, communications) and for multiple years.

7.      Electronic Library Section.

This section includes a large collection of e-books in (pdf) format for various specializations, including:

Ø Control.

Ø Electrical Circuits.

Ø Electrical Machines.

Ø Electromagnetic Filed.

Ø Electronics.

Ø Engineering Machines.

Ø Mathematics.

Ø Numerical Analysis

These books have been stored in a database for e-books. This section works within the WinISIS system, where a database has been built within the system for a large number of books, approximately 1000 books, and work is underway to enhance and update the database continuously. The process of searching for books and borrowing them electronically by the beneficiary community is also done by the Winisis system, where the beneficiary searches for the required book in terms of the name of the book, author or year, and in the event that the book is found within the database, the process of delivering the electronic book is done by making a copy on a CD given by the library.

In addition to what was mentioned above, the library includes a group of CDs that consist of many different topics such as: books, conference proceedings, seminars, bulletins, and other topics.

Library Instructions and Regulations:

1.  Maintain calm and refrain from smoking inside the library.

2.   It is prohibited to bring food and drinks into the library and maintain the cleanliness of the place.

3.   Lending services are provided to faculty members, graduate students and department employees.

4.   Faculty members are entitled to borrow for a maximum period of one month, renewable if there is no reservation on the books from another beneficiary.

5.   Graduate students are entitled to borrow for a maximum period of one month, renewable if there is no reservation on the books from another beneficiary.

6.   Undergraduate students are entitled to view books, theses, magazines and others within the library and are not entitled to borrow outside the library.

7.   The department’s employees, both male and female, are entitled to borrow books for a period of one month, renewable if there is no reservation on the books from another beneficiary.

8. The loan of books shall not be renewed for a second period unless they are brought by the borrower and checked by the library officials before the end of the first loan period.

9.   The borrower shall be deprived of borrowing in the event of repeated delay or failure to pay the prescribed late fee.

10. The student shall not be granted the final exam result unless he obtains a clearance from the department’s library.

11. The loaned book shall be preserved, and in the event of its loss or damage, the borrower shall replace it with the library, and the borrower shall be obligated to compensate the library with a new original copy or pay a fine for the lost book.

12.   All loaned books shall be returned at the beginning of the month (11) of November for the purpose of completing the annual inventory of the library.

13. These controls and instructions have been established for the purpose of preserving the library’s collection of resources from loss or damage.

Library Services:

The Electrical Engineering Library provides a range of services to the beneficiary community, such as:

1.      Loaning books, theses, magazines, etc. to the beneficiary community of faculty and graduate students for a renewable period of one month, and this is done through the identification card in the book or thesis and is recorded in the loan record.

2.     Electronic search for e-books (pdf) in the database within the winisis system for the community of beneficiaries of faculty and postgraduate students.

3.     Duplicate CDs of theses for the community of beneficiaries of faculty and postgraduate students.

4.     Signing a certificate of good conduct for postgraduate students.

5.     Providing a place for reading books, theses, magazines and graduation research as well as for studying for undergraduate students.

6.   Providing the department chair and the general secretariat of the central library at the university with information and statistics about the department library on a regular basis, as well as answering all inquiries received from both parties regarding the library.

Library Activities:

There are a group of activities for the Electrical Engineering Library, such as:

1.     Archiving foreign and Arabic books, theses, magazines, etc.

2.     Archiving foreign and Arabic books, theses, magazines, etc. according to the Winisis system.

3.     Storing postgraduate theses disks in the main library computer.

4.     Receiving theses from postgraduate students after their graduation, at a rate of 2 theses + 2 thesis disks for the department students, and 1 thesis + 1 thesis disk for external students.

Library members attend seminars, courses, and workshops on library systems held inside and outside the university.
