
Master’s Thesis Defense: Kazem Mohammed Kazem
On Monday, January 14, 2019, in Al-Furat Hall, the thesis defense of Kazem Mohammed Kazem took place at 9:00 AM. His research was titled Smart Transformer Based on Matrix Converter Used in Microgrids.
The discussion was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Diab Hamoud, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rashid Ajal, Dr. Kanan Ali Jalal, and Dr. Uday Ali Ahmed (Supervisor and Member) as committee members.
This thesis introduced a new type of AC/AC matrix converter with a single-phase source-Y matrix for use in microgrid systems as part of a solid-state transformer. After presenting the research and addressing committee feedback, the thesis was accepted with minor revisions, and the student was awarded a “Satisfactory” grade.
