Master’s Thesis Defense: Mustafa Abdul Al-Aris Jabir Presents Innovative Research on Prepaid Meters Using GSM Technology
On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, the Master’s thesis defense of Mustafa Abdul Al-Aris Jabir took place at 9:00 AM in the Dijla Hall of the department. His thesis, titled “Design and Implementation of a Prepaid Meter Using GSM Technology,” was presented as part of the requirements for earning a Master’s degree.
The examination committee consisted of the following members:
- Dr. Azad Raheem Kareem (Chair)
- Dr. Ali Kazem Jabir (Member)
- Dr. Khalida Shaaban Rajab (Member)
- Dr. Iyad Ibrahim Abbas (Supervisor and Member)
In his research, Jabir proposed a preliminary system to manage prepaid electricity meters. The prepaid meter concept is significant as it allows consumers to monitor their energy consumption, encouraging reduced energy use. The system also aims to resolve issues faced by utility employees in reading traditional electromechanical meters and minimizes billing errors.
After an engaging discussion of the thesis, the committee approved it with minor revisions. Jabir was awarded a grade of “Very Good” for his work.
This research highlights the potential for modern technology to transform utility management and consumer awareness, paving the way for more efficient energy consumption systems.
