Master’s Thesis Examines Surface Flashover Strength of Insulators
A master’s thesis in the Electrical Engineering Department analyzed the impact of electric field gradients on the surface flashover strength of insulators. The research proposed using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as a water-resistant coating and compared it with alumina and RTV-SR coatings. Simulations were conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics® to analyze electric field distribution. The discussion panel included Assist. Prof. Dr. Qasim Rashid Hamid (Chair), Assist. Prof. Dr. Fadel Abbas Hassan, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Mohammed, and Dr. Aws Habib Mohammed (Supervisor).
