Master’s Thesis Examines Surface Flashover Strength of Insulators

A master’s thesis in the Electrical Engineering Department analyzed the impact of electric field gradients on the surface flashover strength of insulators. The research proposed using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as a water-resistant coating and compared it with alumina and RTV-SR coatings. Simulations were conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics® to analyze electric field distribution. The discussion panel included Assist. Prof. Dr. Qasim Rashid Hamid (Chair), Assist.
