Master’s Thesis Explores EEG-Based Mind-Controlled Robot Design
The University of Technology’s Electrical Engineering Department granted a master’s degree to Sama Saad Abdulwahab for her thesis titled “Design of EEG Mind-Controlled Robot Based on Artificial Intelligent System.”
The study aims to develop a system that interprets human thoughts, such as hand or foot movements, using EEG signals and machine learning algorithms, including SVM, k-NN, and Boosted Tree. Inspired by challenges faced by patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the system seeks to enhance mobility and communication for individuals with severe motor impairments.
The discussion panel included Prof. Dr. Hikmat Najm Abdullah (Chair), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmood Zaki Abdullah (Member), Dr. Salwa Adel Abdulhamid (Member), Dr. Hussein Karim Khulaif (Member), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manal Hamadi Jasim (Supervisor).
