Master’s Thesis on Smart Pharmacy Automation

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to Yusra Star Jabbar for her thesis titled “Smart Drugstore Automation Based on Wireless Sensor Network.”

The proposed system leverages the Internet of Things (IoT) to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services for the elderly and other patients, ensuring optimal healthcare both at home and beyond. It includes a highly efficient smart system to store medication information under ideal conditions based on FDA guidelines. The system utilizes advanced technologies, smart applications, and electronic tools to help patients maintain their medications and avoid damage due to poor storage or neglect.

Features of the system include:

  • Reminders for proper medication intake.
  • Alerts for timely dosage administration.
  • Notifications for low medication stock with options to purchase directly from pre-registered pharmacies.

The research committee included:

  • Dr. Sinan Majid Abdul Sattar (Chairperson)
  • Dr. Jaafar Athab Anqoud (Member)
  • Dr. Farzadq Rafiq Yaseen (Member)
  • Dr. Abbas Hussein Issa and Dr. Sabah Abdul Hassan Katafa (Supervisor and Member)
