Patent Awarded for Smart Electrical Socket Design

Dr. Hussein Kareem Khalif, a faculty member in the Electronic Engineering branch, along with Dr. Aqeel Sakhi Jaber from Al-Mamoon University College, received a patent from the Iraqi Ministry of Planning for their invention: a “Smart Electrical Socket.”

The innovative socket eliminates the need for additional wiring and separate circuits, thereby preserving building aesthetics. The system comprises two primary units: a wireless transmitter located near the main power supply and a receiver integrated into the socket, which controls the power supply to connected devices.
