PhD Research Advances Electric Vehicle Control Systems

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a PhD to Ali Riyadh Wahid for his dissertation titled:
“Design and Implementation of an Adaptive Reconfigurable Intelligent Controller for an Electric Vehicle.”

Ali’s research focused on optimizing electric vehicle performance through advanced control techniques. Two systems were proposed:

  1. INNC-AGF(OL): An open-loop adaptive gain controller.
  2. PID-AGF(CL): A closed-loop adaptive gain controller.

These systems were tested using a simulated DC motor, demonstrating enhanced efficiency and reliability. The innovative techniques offer cost-effective and straightforward solutions to address issues in gain scheduling and adaptive control.

The examining committee included:

  • Dr. Ibrahim Qasim Ibrahim (Chair)
  • Dr. Omar Farouk Lutfi (Member)
  • Dr. Ali Hussein Ahmed (Member).
