PhD Researcher Awarded Distinction in Electrical Engineering

PhD Candidate Jawad Kazim Ali Excels in Dissertation Defense

On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Jawad Kazim Ali, a doctoral student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, was awarded a distinction for his dissertation titled:
“Design and Implementation of Miniaturized Band-Pass Filters Using Coupled Resonators and Minkowski Fractal Defected Ground Structures.”

The defense, held in the Dijla Hall of the department, was overseen by a distinguished panel:

  1. Prof. Dr. Sattar Badr Sudkhan – Chair
  2. Prof. Dr. Raad Hamdan Thahir – Member
  3. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Farhan Masleh – Member
  4. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Hamza Mohammed – Member
  5. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Sadiq Abdul-Hadi – Member
  6. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hadi Tarish Zaboon – Supervisor

The research proposed novel methodologies for multi-band, miniaturized band-pass filters leveraging fractal geometries and resonators with varied impedance. With groundbreaking design approaches, the work addressed critical challenges in microwave circuit design. The dissertation was praised for its innovation, earning Jawad Kazim Ali a well-deserved PhD with distinction.
