Workshop on Improving Power Factor Using a Wave Rectifier

As part of the cultural season of the Department of Electrical Engineering, a workshop titled “Performance Study of Active Power Factor Correction for Bridge Rectifiers” was held, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Jassem Farhood Hussein, in the Dijla Hall on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

The workshop introduced the concept of rectifiers, commonly used in electrical power systems and their various applications. It also covered the mechanisms and performance analysis of these rectifiers, both theoretically and practically, and how to optimize their performance to improve the power factor.

Several faculty members and department staff attended the workshop, and a discussion session was opened at the end, where questions were answered.
