Dr. Aws H. Al-Taie

Department of Electrical Engineering

Aws Al-Taie received his B.Sc. in electrical engineering (ranked the First) and M.Sc. in power engineering degrees from University of Technology (UOT), Iraq, in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Florida State University (FSU), USA in 2019. He also received his Diploma in Intensive English Program, Center for Multilingual Multicultural Studies, University of Central Florida, USA in 2014. He he has been a faculty member in EE Department at UOT since 2008. He also worked as a Teaching Assistant in ECE Dept. FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in 2018, and as a Research Assistant at the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), FSU, USA in 2019. He was awarded a fully funded Ph.D. scholarship from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in 2012. He received the Top IEEE Power and Energy Ph.D. Presentation award from IEEE Tallahassee Area Section, Florida, USA in 2019 and Certificate of Appreciation for Distinguished Research from EE Dept. UOT, Iraq in 2020. He also received more than 50 numerous awards and certificates of appreciation from many different official Iraqi and American entities and bodies. His research interests involve high voltage engineering, electrical Insulation, and superconductivity. He has been a member in IEEE since 2016. That includes Power and Energy Society, Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society, Council on Superconductivity, Transportation Electrification Community and others. He is a member of the Technical Committee 32, Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, Iraqi Ministry of Planning, developing electric power transformers standards. Consultant Member in the Scientific Council of the Renewable Energy Research Center, Corporation of Research and Industry Development, Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals. He is the chairman of UOT Scholars Potential Investment committee. He is also a member in the editorial board of the engineering section for the Iraqi Journal of Industrial Research.
