Doctoral Dissertation Defense
On Thursday, January 31, 2019, Ph.D. candidate Ali Jalil Taher defended his dissertation titled:
“Enhancing the Performance of Low-Information Systems Using Compressive Sensing.”
The defense was held at 9:00 AM in Dijla Hall within the department.
The examination committee included:
- Prof. Dr. Jawad Kadhim Ali – Chair
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Hadi Tarish Zuboon – Member
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Saad Saffah Hassoun – Member
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Saad Mohammed Saleh – Member
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Sameer Abdul Khaliq Aziz – Member
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul Sahib Hashem – Supervisor and Member
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Thamer Rasheed Saeed – Supervisor and Member
The research introduced a modified compressive sensing algorithm to reduce data sampling rates below the Nyquist criterion while maintaining signal quality. The algorithm was validated using MATLAB R2015a with real signal data. The dissertation was accepted, and the candidate was awarded a Ph.D. with a “Pass” grade.
