Master’s Thesis Defense: Ali Saad Hadi

On Thursday, December 26, 2018, in the Dijla Hall, Ali Saad Hadi defended his master’s thesis titled Fault-Tolerant Control Based on Model for Nonlinear Systems with Application to Wind Turbines. The defense began at 9:00 AM.

The committee was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hadeel Nasrat Abdullah, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Abbas Hussein Eissa, Asst. Prof. Dr. Walid Khaled Ibrahim, Asst. Prof. Dr. Montazer Sami Shakir, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Qusay Abdul Jabbar Jawad (Supervisor and Member) as members.

The thesis proposed a Takagi-Sugeno multiple-integral observer-based fault-tolerant controller for wind turbine systems, considering simultaneous faults in actuators, sensors, wind disturbances, and sensor noise. The design methodology combined estimation and isolation techniques to accurately detect faults, even in complex fault scenarios. After a comprehensive review, the thesis was accepted with minor revisions, and the candidate was awarded a “Satisfactory” grade.
