Master’s Thesis Simulates Upgrade of Distribution Networks

The Electrical Engineering Department awarded a Master’s degree to student Salam Banyan Aboud for his thesis titled “Simulation and Analysis of Replacement 11 kV Distribution Network by 33 kV”.

The study proposed a 33/0.416 kV distribution network design to enhance electricity reliability, reduce voltage drops, and minimize energy losses while ensuring cost efficiency. The work involved dividing the target area into sections, calculating total loads, and determining the required transformers and cable specifications.

The defense committee was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Qasim Abdul Razaq Ali, with members including Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Kazem Aidan, Dr. Kanaan Ali Jalal, and supervisor Asst. Prof. Dr. Thamer Mohammed Abdul Wahab.
